EUBURN

The southern Europe biomass burning project

A European Initiative on Wildfire Risk and Atmospheric Impacts

EUBURN is a groundbreaking European project dedicated to advancing the prevention, monitoring, and mitigation of risks associated with wildfires. As climate change increases the frequency, severity, and spatial extent of wildfires in Europe — particularly in southern regions — EUBURN responds with an integrated, science-based approach to understand fire dynamics and their environmental consequences.

EUBURN is the first multi-year and multi-scale field campaign in Europe to investigate wildfires and their atmospheric emissions, supported by a comprehensive modelling framework. The project brings together research institutions, meteorological services, civil protection agencies, industry, and governmental stakeholders to co-develop practical, operational, and policy-relevant solutions.
